The article that I chose to write about came from Forbes and talked about how Big Data has changed the game of marketing. The three main things that you could take away from this post was: (1) that consumer data is more available now than ever, (2) by 2025 more than 150 trillion gigs of data will be unanalyzed, (3) it would be good to create a software that would be able to analyze mass quantities of data, so that you will be able to market more effectively to more and more people. A value proposition of Forbes, is that they give unique perspective on a variety of business topics. In my opinion, this marketing article is very relevant compared to any other topic, because it talks about data, and data is very big in the marketing industry right now. If I was a brand manager of this company, I would definitely do what I could for the company to immediately start taking advantage of big data. I think that the author of this article did a very good job summarizing what companies need to do to take advantage of the every increasing data-pool of potential customers. The most important thing that I learned from this article is that I think if you came up with a software that companies could buy to analyze data of customers, you could make A LOT of money.

Week 1 Marketing Blog Post
Hi all, my name is Logan Sorah, and I am a college student at Linn-Benton Community College. I am from the Albany/Corvallis area (grew up in Philomath and moved to Albany about 8 years ago). Currently, my life consists mainly of going to school, working, and working out. The reason that I chose to sign up for this course, besides it being a required course for my program, is because in the arena of business I think that marketing is one of the most interesting topics that can be studied. Marketing has caught my interest so much because as opposed to topics such as finance or accounting, marketing is much more of an abstract part of business, and many times it is up to your own discretion how you choose to market your business/yourself. Technically, I am getting my associates degree to transfer to OSU. I know I want to major in something relating to business, but I have not decided what I will major in yet. I think the think that I am most eager to learn from this course about marketing is what a typical marketing job looks like/and how to secure one. As I said earlier, outside of college I am passionate about exercise, and I also love music.
Thanks for checking out my first post!
